At Lea Hill, we believe that relationships are the foundation of everything we do. We treat our students with respect, so they know how to treat us.
We believe that students who are engaged, feeling safe, and feeling happy, are more likely to stay focused on learning.
We maintain high expectations for student attendance and effort.
We have LH student created videos, to explicitly teach all behavior expectations at Lea Hill.
We believe in individual goal setting with students so they are active participants in their learning.
We have strong classroom teachers who intentionally plan engaging lessons, have excellent classroom management, execute explicit instruction, and use rigorous materials to help us meet/exceed standards.
We meet kids where they are at to help close the learning gaps.
Our teachers are outstanding and handle the vast majority of behaviors in their classrooms.
Timely and clear parent communication.
We pride ourselves in “catching” students making good choices and telling them why. We use our PRIDE shop to help them earn incentives (listening to their teachers, helping others, etc.)
We utilize student leadership programs like Mustang Ambassadors, Green Team, Morning Announcements, and ASB.
We teach social-emotional skills weekly, in every classroom. We use a program called Character Strong.
Adult supervised opportunities for students as recess, such as soccer, basketball, and touch football.
We utilize restorative practices with our students.
In some situations, students can lose some or all of their lunch recess time for unsafe behaviors (Recess Reset).
In some situations, students may have to each lunch with the principal or assistant principal for disruptive/inappropriate behaviors, where discussions are centered around how to adjust behaviors to return successfully into the classroom.
We have a student support team that meets weekly to discuss additional behavior supports for focus students. This team includes the Principal, Assistant Principal, Behavior Intervention Specialist, our BIS Assistant, our two School Counselors, and our Family Engagement Liaison.
